Information about Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift is a singer-songwriter and occasional actress. Raised in Wyoming, Pennsylvania, Swift moved to Nashville, Tennessee at the age of fourteen to pursue a career in country music. She signed to the independent label Big Machine Records and became the youngest songwriter ever hired by the Sony/ATV Music publishing house. 

Her second album 'Fearless' (released in 2008) catapulted her into stardom with hits including 'Love Story' and 'You Belong With Me' and became the highest selling album of 2009. The album won four Grammy's and Swift became the youngest artist to win 'Album of the Year' award.

Often described as America's sweetheart, Swift is known for her narrative songs about her experiences as a teenager and young adult. This song in particular drops hints and clues as to who Taylor is singing about, and those clues point to Joe Jonas, who she dated in 2008. She sings about remembering how "I ran off the plane that July 9th" for a happy reunion. If you rewind to that day you will point out that she flew to Dallas on July 9, 2008 to sit in the audience for the Jonas Brothers show. 

Another clue points to the instrumental at the beginning of the song which plays until 0:27 when Taylor starts to sing. Taylor was hurt over the alleged 27-second break up phone call she talked about on the Ellen DeGeneres TV show and this instrumental could be to highlight this call.

As a songwriter, she has been honoured by the Nashville Songwriters Association and the Songwriters Hall of Fame. Swift's other achievements include six Grammy Awards, ten American Music Awards, seven Country Music Association Awards, six Academy of Country Music Awards and thirteen BMI Awards. She has sold over 22 million albums and 50 million song downloads worldwide.

My Chosen Song

I finally decided to use Taylor Swift - Last Kiss as my song for my music video as it really shows the raw emotions after a break up and this subject can form many different ideas of how I am going to stage my music video and how a song like this can be plot driven in that it can show the before and after of a relationship. This notion can then captivate an audience and relate to them as many people would also know what Taylor Swift is going through. 

It's Between Two...

This song was originally written after the break up between Taylor Swift and Joe Jonas and the raw emotions she felt. This is one of my possible songs as it really encapsulates the raw emotion that she feels and I feel like I could relate to that emotion in my music video. The soft melodic song also allows for her to be stripped bare and show her heart on her sleeve whereas Kelly Clarkson (the other possible song) puts her barriers up and keeps her emotions close to her chest. 



This song tackles the same subject as Taylor Swift's song as it unravels a break up between two characters in the song. However, unlike Swift, this song is more edgier and gutsier and allows Clarkson to show her emotions but also show how she can be strong after this break up saying that 'you wont get to see the tears I cry behind these hazel eyes'.
